Local Indoor Pickleball Facility Teams Up with Vestavia Hills Soccer Club

Vestavia Hills Soccer Club is excited to announce our newest partnership - this one with the PICKLR - Vestavia Hills new indoor pickleball facility. Located in the old Sprout’s location on Hwy 31 across from city hall, the facility boasts 10 indoor courts and has a variety of daily programming.

Executive Director Rocky Harmon, who plays regularly, says “this is a great off- field activity for all of our players…and their parents as well. There is a reason it is the fastest growing sport in the country, and its low barrier to entry makes it fun for the whole family. Even the most hard-core soccer player needs other recreational outlets to keep the game fresh. Pickleball at the PICKLR can provide that….in a climate controlled environment all summer long.”

Says Club Coordinator Ross English “We are looking forward to building our youth program, and the benefits of improved footwork and agility will serve these soccer players well when they are back on the field.”

The Vestavia Hills Soccer Club (VHSC) is proud to announce STRIVE Birmingham ( www.strive.org/birmingham ) as its 2025 Community Non-Profit Partner. This year, STRIVE Birmingham takes the torch from My Sister’s Closet as the recipient of VHSC’s complimentary sponsorship initiative.

A national leader in workforce development, STRIVE was founded over 40 years ago in East Harlem, New York, and has since expanded its life-changing programs nationwide. STRIVE empowers individuals aged 18+—including those impacted by the justice system—by offering innovative career training and lifetime support that pave the way to meaningful employment and personal growth.

Key Dates for Academy and Competitive Teams

January 14-16 : January Preseason Camp for all Academy and competitive players. Sign up online today to kick off the spring season with our experienced staff at Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex. Let’s get the ball rolling and hit the ground running!
January 20 : No Training in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
January 21 : First day of spring training for Academy and competitive teams. This marks the start of the first week of training for these teams.

Get ready to kick off the season with the Vestavia Hills Soccer Club’s Youth Soccer Program January Preseason Camp! Open to all boys and girls ages 7 through 14 (U8 through U14), this camp is perfect for academy, competitive, and recreational players looking to sharpen their skills before the season starts.

Camp Details

Dates : January 14th through January 16th
Location : Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex, Fields 3 and 4
Additional Skills Program (Optional) : 5:30 PM – 6:20 PM
Preseason Camp Training : 6:30 PM – 7:45 PM

Who Can Attend?

Recreational, Academy and competitive players ages U8 through U14 (ages 7-14)

What to do between seasons?

The time between the fall and spring soccer seasons is an excellent opportunity for young players (ages 7–14) to grow, improve their skills, and develop as athletes and individuals. Here are some realistic and fun ways to make the most of the offseason while preparing for the upcoming season.

Stay Active with Complementary Sports

Participating in other sports can help players stay fit and develop new skills:

• Basketball enhances agility, hand-eye coordination, and decision-making.

• Volleyball improves reaction time, jumping ability, and teamwork.

• Futsal focuses on quick touches, ball control, and spatial awareness in tight spaces.

Engage in Small Group Training

Train with friends and teammates to stay connected and motivated. Focus on technical skills such as passing, dribbling, shooting, and defending in a supportive and fun environment.

Calling all Interested U8-U11 Recreational Players... Want to join our Competitive Academy with a focus on Long-Term Development?

Are you a recreational soccer player ready to take the next step? Vestavia Hills Soccer Club is excited to offer auxiliary evaluations for players under 8 through under 11 who are interested in joining our Bridge Competitive Program , known as The Academy .

The Academy bridges the gap between recreational and competitive soccer, providing professional training, weekend competition, and a pathway for long-term player development within our competitive programming.

Evaluation Dates and Locations

We are hosting multiple opportunities for recreational players to participate in evaluations. All players must register for tryouts online with the link provided below:
