City Breaks Ground on New Sicard Hollow Sports Complex

LIGHT POLES ARE UP!
______________________________________________
On Thursday, February 11, 2010, ground was broken on the much anticipated and long awaited Sicard Hollow Sports Complex. When all the dust settles, there will be four, brand new, full sized soccer fields available for year round use. Rain-outs (and even snow outs) will be a thing of the past, as all four fields, as well as a practice area, will be top of the line synthetic field turf. The complex will be conveniently located to the existing Liberty Park Sports Complex just across Sicard Hollow Road. While the Club has raised donations and pledges in the past for new fields, we still have much more to do to help the City fund this project. The multi-purpose fields, which will be used for soccer, football, and lacrosse, are set to open this summer, and we should be scoring goals on them this fall. All fields will have lights and bleachers, and there also is planned a concession building, clubhouse and bathrooms.
We will renew fundraising efforts soon. If you have donated in the past, thank you. Your donation was deposited into the Vestavia Hills Park and Recreational Foundation and will be used for the Sicard Hollow Sports Complex. If you pledged in the past, expect a reminder. If you neither donated or pledged, please consider doing so when given the opportunity. |
