The Club traces its beginnings to 1977 when a group of parents approached the Vestavia Hills Parks and Recreation Board about forming a recreational soccer league. For the first several years, soccer in Vestavia was recreational only. As the soccer program became more popular, there was increased interest in developing a competitive soccer program. Competitive teams began being formed in the 1980's. During the latter part of the 1980's and throughout the 1990's, both the recreational and competitive programs enjoyed increasing success, culminating in the hiring of the Club's first full-time Director of Coaching in 1998.
In 2004, the Attack Soccer Club, the preeminent Birmingham-based girls' soccer program, merged with the Club. This merger helped the Club's competitive program become one of the most successful in the state.
From the humble beginnings of 1977, the Vestavia Hills Soccer Club now makes the sport of soccer available to over 1800 children a year. Competitive and recreational programs are offered in both the spring and fall. The recreational program serves boys and girls aged 5 to 19. Competitive teams are formed at age groups U-11 through U-19 with a minimum of one or more competitive teams per age group. The Club presently employs four full-time soccer professionals, along with numerous part-time professional soccer coaches, trainers and skills' coordinators.
